Gold Coast - Traditional Chinese & Japanese Acupuncture Practitioners
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which originated in China over 5,000 years ago.
It is practiced all of the world these days and has been proved to be safe and effective.
An Acupuncturist uses fine needles to stimulate specific points along meridian lines (energy lines) on the body for therapeutic purposes.
Heat (Moxa burning), pressure, friction, suction, or impulses of electromagnetic energy to stimulate the points are also used. The acupoints (acupuncture points) are stimulated to balance the movement of energy (qi) in the body to restore health.
Acupuncture is based on natural principles, and an understanding of the interaction of the 5 elements, fire, earth, metal, water and wood, and the principles of yin and yang.
Diagnosis is done by The Chinese Pulse taking technique, as well as Nail and Tongue Diagnosis, and a medical history.
Acupuncture Treatment is available for most health problems, here is a short list:
Sports Injuries, Arthritis, Asthma, Sciatica, Migraines, Insomnia, Menstrual Problems, Back Pain, Sinus, Hay fever, Aching Joints, Stress, Circulation, Heart, Weight Loss, Quit Smoking, Eczema, Psoriasis, Tinnitus, Flu, Colds, Depression, Anxiety, Musculoskeletal Disorder, just to name a few.

Question:
Who was the first Acupuncturist on the Gold Coast? Does anyone know?
Tony Hold ?
The Academy of Natural Therapy ( Surfers Paradise - later Southport ) was established in the early eighties which resulted in an even higher ratio of well trained therapists to the Gold Coast.
One well known acupuncturist and probably one of the first is Robert Kendall. He established his clinic in 1980 and is still practicing today.
