{"id":250,"date":"2018-06-20T12:32:27","date_gmt":"2018-06-20T02:32:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.usenature.com\/info-blog\/?p=250"},"modified":"2019-01-03T14:35:29","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T04:35:29","slug":"how-to-ban-plastic-bags-effectively","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.usenature.com\/info-blog\/editors-comments\/how-to-ban-plastic-bags-effectively\/","title":{"rendered":"How to ban plastic bags effectively"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>How to ban plastic bags effectively?<\/h3>\n<p>Finally we have come to the conclusion that plastic bags in super markets have to be stopped to protect the <strong>&#8220;only&#8221;<\/strong> environment we have.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The question of how to get out of this manic craze of using plastic bags,<\/strong> wrapping and containers for absolutely everything, <strong>is creating major headaches.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The question on everyone&#8217;s mind is; &#8220;with what can we replace something as neat and nice as plastic bags \ud83d\ude42 &#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is the alternative?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s not forget the law of\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>&#8220;Cause and Effect&#8221;, when ever you cause something, like banning plastic bags, what will be the effect ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What will we use instead of plastic bags.<br \/>\nWill the alternative be less or more harmful to the environment?<\/p>\n<p>There is also the question of, will we now buy <strong>more plastic bags for our rubbish bins<\/strong> and similar usage?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1945734187828545\" data-ad-slot=\"2144331746\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script><br \/>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<br \/>\n<\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>More concerning questions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>How often would we use a heavy-duty plastic bag, before we would discard it?<\/li>\n<li>Are heavy duty plastic bags prone to harbor harmful bacteria?<\/li>\n<li>Canvas bags, beside the higher cost, will get quickly dirty as well, and depending how much energy is used to produce them, they may cause additional harm to the environment.<\/li>\n<li>If canvas bags are made from linen or cotton, it will create even more problems, including pesticides and water shortage, and high cost.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And there is still the rubbish bin liner question to consider, with other words the alternative solution needs to solve at least 2 problems, hopefully 3:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A <strong>Shopping Bag<\/strong> alternative<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Bin Liner<\/strong> alternative &#8230;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0.. and hopefully in the future and alternative for all plastic bags, eg food bags.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>My favorite alternative bag material would be Hemp<\/strong>, esp if the Hemp growing industry in Australia can be helped.<\/p>\n<p>Hemp of course is highly suitable for the Australian climate, it doesn&#8217;t need much water and it is not dependent on pesticides, therefore it is economical. <strong>Go Hemp &#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jute is similar,<\/strong> but somehow I am inclined to favor Hemp, esp. as it could provide farmers with an alternative crop to sugar.<\/p>\n<p>However that leaves the question of <strong>how often one can use a Hemp bag<\/strong> before discarding. It may be durable for a long time, but probably not <strong>Hygienic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Here it is the final Plastic Shopping Bag Solution:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #808080;\">&#8230; maybe I should patent it &#8230; and create a new start up company, making square string shopping bags<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usenature.com\/info-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Screen-Shot-2018-06-20-at-4.18.42-PM-e1529475586585.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-261 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.usenature.com\/info-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Screen-Shot-2018-06-20-at-4.18.42-PM-e1529475586585.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"167\" \/><\/a>It is not only the material used for the shopping bags, but also how long it can be used for, therefore we need to be able to <strong>chuck it once a month into the washing machine,<\/strong> sorry, I meant of course to <strong>wash it<\/strong> with organic detergent \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h3><strong>I am saying &#8230; &#8220;bring back the Shopping Net&#8221; .. &#8216;string bag&#8217;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Plus point for the shopping bag; cheap, re-usable, washable, easy storage, can take many different shapes to be used in super market check-outs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>With other words &#8230; Perfect<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>.. another Crazy Craze Crunched<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>.. and I nearly forgot<\/strong> <\/span>&#8230; unfortunately I have no idea for bin liners &#8230;<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nWhat are Your alternative solutions?
