A love of Australian art and no wish to retire at the end of their career in commerce led Ian and Meryll to reinvest and expand their private gallery at their home into a gallery housing works collected from the early 70’s. The Kerrmuller Collection is home to more than 1500 works featuring some of the country’s finest artists and is to be opened to the public for the first time with some works offered for sale. The collection includes works by Hugh Sawrey, D’arcy Doyle, Leonard Long, Pro Hart, Kevin Best as well as local artists Ken Farrow, John Milenkovic and the Whisson family.
The new extended gallery space has been architecturally designed specifically for display, enjoyment and packing to ensure safe delivery of paintings, with no damage occurring to the exquisite framing. Meticulous would be a good description of the care taken in all aspects of the gallery operation. The space available for viewing of the private works and works for sale is over 250 square metres.
