In essence, all types of artistic pursuits are therapeutic in nature. This is not to say that all art is therapy.

To be specific therapy it needs to be focused or directed to achieve an objective.

 

However, just doing art, involving yourself in creativity you will have a positive general therapeutic effect created in yourself. Art and creativity, being a right side of the brain activity, has an calming relaxing regenerative effect. This is esp. true if you are not concentrating on a specific technique, but simply allow yourself to let go and create intuitively, shifting colour around the canvas, or dancing freely, or involve yourself deeply in any other creative art form without thinking too much about it.

Personally, I am a great believer in Art Therapy and art in general. Art is the natural activity to keep us in balance with the rest of our activities. Art is a great stress buster, and makes you happy, as art and creativity gently shift you into an alpha brainwave.

 

I also believe in >> creating your lifestyle, rather than just let it happen to you. In fact, I would like to advise everyone to not only pursue some active form of art, but also view all activity from an artistic creative viewpoint.
