Reflexology - Foot Reflex Massage

Reflexology is a great natural treatment modality., and It is suitable to use as self help.

The benefits are many:

Whenever you consider Natural Treatment, my advice is to see it in a holistic effective way.
The obvious therapeutic effect will result by applying pressure in a certain way onto specific or less specific reflex points located on your feet and around the ankles.

Other less obvious effects are the results of the touch, the closeness with another person, the relaxation, the circulative and lymphatic effects and many more...

The basics of REFLEXOLOGY is the ZONE THEORY.

 

Zones are a system for organising relationships between various parts of the body.

By applying pressure on a specific part of the body, an other part in the same zone will also be effected.

This art of healing has been practiced in China for thousands of years.

An American, Dr. W.H. Fitzgeralt was the founder of what we know today as ZoneTtheory Therapy.
Eunice Ingham had been using Zone Therapy in her work, but must have felt that the feet should be the targets for therapy, because of their highly sensitive nature.

Sensitivity in a specific part of the foot, indicates that something is blocking that zone somewhere in the body.

 

Rule 1 - Direct pressure, applied to any part of a zone, will affect the entire zone.

Rule 1 is the basis of Zone Theory and also of FOOT REFLEXOLOGY!

History - Reflexology Gold Coast

 

Probably the first Reflexology Course was available in 1981 at the Academy of Natural Therapy, founded by Dr. Peter Pedersen.

The Teacher was Dieter Luske, which you guessed it, is me.

I had studied Reflexology in Germany - the system we used was refined by Hanne Marquardt - her book may still be available > " Reflexzonenarbeit am Fuss", ( 1975) translated > Reflex zone work on the foot.

Hanne Marquardt studied with Eunice Ingham in the late 1950's. - I think it was actually Hanne Marquardt, who made it easy to find the reflex points, by likening the foot to a sitting person. The side view of the foot, representing the big toe as the head and the heel as the hip, and everything else in zones inbetween.
