We age ..... nothing new about that, but are we able to halter this process or even reverse it?
Anti-aging or Rejuvenation, such a beautiful concept, and more an more remedial strategies have been developed towards this elusive goal, making it a bit less elusive and more promising.
Age is strongly influenced by genetics. Lets have a look at this for a moment. If you are blessed with a perfect genetic make up, whatever that is, count you blessing, you probably will live to a healthy old ripe age, looking OK even with 120.
On the other hand, most of us may not be that lucky, we may have little flaws in our genetics. It may not be anything serious, just those little things, like loosing your hair to early, having maybe weak joints, bit of a heart weakness may run in your family, or just a bit of sensitive skin, making you look older as you actually are.
What can we do about these health diminishing aspects?
For starters, please become aware as early as possible that you are not invincible. That may stop you from adopting a lifestyle of binge drinking, drugs, smoking, eating rubbish, abusing your body in any way possible, burning the candle on both ends to put it politely.
In plain english, as earlier you adopt a sensible lifestyle as longer you will possibly live, and be healthy.
The next step of awareness is recognising or finding out your inherent strength and weaknesses.
Have a look first at your strong points, make sure you nourish and support your strong point to keep them strong.
Next, have a look at your weak points. By altering your weak points you effectively practice anti-ageing. it is those weak pints which will age you faster as the rest of your system.
Be aware of your weak points and develop a strengthening - supportive lifestyle strategy to make sure those weak points are not becoming the straw which breaks the camels back.
How do you strengthen specific parts or system of your yourself ?
This depends on what it is, but the approach is always the same, develop a lifestyle where spiritually - mentally and physically you support yourself.
It may employ a believe system that you can make it happen, being positive about it, not sabotaging yourself with destructive thought patterns.
The physical part will make sure you do get the right type of physical exercise appropriate, it may be yoga - pilate - walking - weight lifting, what ever is needed.
The exercise is enhanced with right nutrition.
I can envisage that in the future we may be able to get a print out of our genetic code with the specific instruction of what to eat in order to get the most out of our diet, without suffering form detrimental side-effects of allergies or hypersensitiveness. If we would adopt such a plan is still another question.
However, in the meantime, why not look into your strength and weaknesses a bit and find an appropriate " anti-ageing practitioner " or naturopath, beautician, coach, chiropractor fitness instructor or what ever to strengthen your weakness and make them into your strong points.
And remember, there is more to life than earning a living or burning the candle on both ends...
