At a Health Centre, one can expect to find practitioners from all fields of Natural - Alternative - Complementary Health Services, catering for your physical being as well as your mind and spirit.

 

Health Centre is a general term, it's main indication is the availability of more than 2 or 3 practitioners and treatment modalities.

 

Some Health Centres may call themselves, "Multi Modality Clinic" , or just Health Clinic. However, most Health Centres have a wide variety of practitioners and Healing Modalities. Some Health Centres do have a Holistic Medical Doctor as well.

 

If you are looking for specific health services, it is always wise to call the centre before, to make sure you will get what you expect.

One of the first Health Centres on the Gold Coast was probably Peter Pedersen's Health Clinic in Surfers Paradise, est. in 1980, and it comprised a wide variety of Natural Treatment Modalities, such as: Chiropractic - Osteopathy - Therapeutic Massage - Iridology - Herbalist - Homeopath - Acupuncture - Reflexology - Psychology - Naturopathy and Medical Services, all from the one Health Centre.

 

It was also the premise for the Academy of Natural Therapy. One of the regular visiting practitioners at that time, was well known Orthomolecular Nutritionist Dr William Vayda. He treated lots of patients with Blood Sugar problems and Allergies and children with behavioural problems probably ADD (attention deficit disorder), and similar ... .. he was far ahead of his times ...

 

 

 

Most Centres will have a Naturopath, an Acupuncturist and Massage Therapy, as well as Counsellors and  Lifestyle Coaches
