building healthier lives |
Building healthier lives by creating healthier indoor environments • Could your unexplained fatigue or insomnia be due to geopathic stress or high EMF exposure? • Could your unexplained headaches be due to high radio frequency exposure? • Could your eye/nose/throat irritations or breathing difficulties be due to mould or chemical exposure? Call Building Wellness now to assess your premises for these exposures and other indoor causes of illness |

Treatment for existing health problems
Sometimes, you may experience ill health or simply feel “not quite right” for no apparent reason and your symptoms may not improve despite good medical or natural health treatment. When this happens, it could mean that the cause of your problem is not being treated. This cause could lie in the indoor environments in which you may spend up to 90% of your time.
At Building Wellness, we assess your home or workplace for health hazards that are commonly associated with symptoms such as fatigue, headache, sleeping difficulties, inability to concentrate, eye/nose/throat irritation, asthma and skin irritation. Long term exposure to some of these hazards may result in conditions such as reproductive problems and cancer.
A preventative approach
Even if you currently feel well, you may want your home assessed to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing that it is supporting your health and that of your family as much as possible.
Alternatively, if you are looking to buy a new property, you may want to have the site assessed to make you aware of potential problems that exist before you commit to a purchase.
If you are looking to build a new home, you may want the vacant land assessed for unacceptable levels of electromagnetic radiation, radio frequencies and negative earth energies and then have us work with you to design a building that is energy efficient and made from the healthiest materials possible.
Assessing the indoor environment
Assessment of your living environment can include any or all of the following services :
Electromagnetic Field (EMF) testing - to identify hazards associated with the electricity supply and electrical appliances.
Radio frequency (RF) testing – to identify hazards associated with the radiation from mobile phone, telecommunications and wireless technologies.
Moisture and mould detection – to identify hazards associated with excess moisture in building materials and furnishings.
Indoor air quality testing – to identify hazards associated with the presence of high or low relative humidity, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and other chemicals.
Geomancy – to identify hazards associated with geopathic stress (natural or man-made energies, emanating from the earth, which are detrimental to human health).
Personal care product, cleaning product and water filter recommendations -
to support healthy indoor environments.
You will receive recommendations for the easiest and most cost effective solutions possible for eliminating or minimising exposure to each concern identified. All recommendations are based on building biology principles and are specifically designed for your premises based on conditions observed at the time of assessment.
About Building Biology
Building biology is the study of the relationship between buildings and life. While it primarily considers the impact of the built environment on human health and the use of this knowledge to create healthier indoor environments, it is also concerned with the relationship between buildings and the environment.
Your health is a building biologist’s primary concern. Hence, we advocate
building in a quiet, non toxic environment, on a site which is not subjected to adverse effects of man-made electromagnetic radiation or negative earth energies
using building materials that are non toxic, allow air diffusion and naturally regulate indoor humidity
minimising exposure to electromagnetic fields and radio frequencies and ensuring adequate ventilation
Electromagnetic field and radio frequency exposure levels that building biologists consider to be safe are based on biological activity and are below the point at which our cells begin to demonstrate abnormal behaviour. Hence, they are significantly less than those of other authorities which consider the level at which a person experiences immediate adverse effects.
About Building Wellness
Building Wellness is a building biology consultancy which aims to identify and recommend solutions for the causes of illness in homes and workplaces. Hence, we aim to give people the knowledge they need to take action to either rebuild or maintain their health and to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing that their built environment is supporting their health to the greatest extent possible.
Our home and workplace assessments are performed using quality equipment and all recommendations are based on building biology principles.
While we are based in Melbourne, we are happy to consider conducting assessments in other areas. We will also be pleased to speak and write articles on building biology-related topics.
Our director, Marianne Baker, is a practicing building biologist and lectures at the Australian College of Environmental Studies. She holds qualifications in building biology and natural therapies and spent 17 years working in health food retail. Her emphasis is very much on improving the health of individuals.
She is secretary of the Australasian Society of Building Biologists and is also a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society.
Consultations available Monday to Saturday, by appointment. We come to you.
