Spring time - a great time to try Kinesiology!

Kinesiology works with muscle feedback to gather information stored in the body. This information can be purely physical - for example a nutritional deficiency or allergy - or into the mind and subconscious.

Spring is a great time to explore this modality which encompasses traditional Chinese Medicine as well as modern techniques.
In traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring is all about the wood element, and the organs of the liver and gall bladder.

A time of new beginning, I love this description from the Inner Classic:

"The supernatural forces of spring create wind in heaven and wood upon the earth. Within the body they create the liver and the tendons, they create the green colour... and give the voice the ability to make a shouting sound... they create the eyes, the sour flavour, and the emotion anger."

Anger? What's that got to do with sunny, blissful spring? Well, in kinesiology we work a lot with anger. Most of us learn to suppress or ignore it, leaving it to sit somewhere in the body and potentially give us more grief down the track.

Anger is recognized as being a great emotion for change, standing up for ourselves, and making things happen.

Anger that isn't acted on (in a healthy way of course) turns into resentment, and that causes all sorts of trouble for us down the track.

So spring is the perfect time to clear out those past angers, and move them into action.

eat raw, and keep your liver happy

Spring is also the perfect time to get into raw, fresh healthy foods again. A friend recently mentioned to me that "diet" contains the word "die", while "healthy" contains the word "health". Health for the spring organ of the liver (our important, blood cleansing, detoxifying lovely liver) is about having a break from all those winter treats: red wine, caffeine, processed foods and other bad things for our body.

Common signs your liver could do with some help:
1.    liver emotions out of whack: impatience, resentment, aggression, edginess.
2.    Swelling or lumps in the body: as the qi of the body is stagnant
3.    Any problems in the tendons or eyes: part of the liver system in TCM
4.    Blood deficiency: such as anemia
5.    Liver heat: inflamed eyes, headaches, high blood pressure

In kinesiology I work with the liver acupoints to assist with liver emotions (planning, action, anger, resentment etc), as well as for physical functions - period problems, eyes, detoxification etc etc!

Kinesiology is a great modality to gain more awareness about your body and mind, and with the sun shining more, its an ideal time to try it if you haven't before.
