HEALTHY AGEING
Try Googling the words “Healthy Ageing” and you come up with a myriad of possible areas to investigate.
Avoiding the major chronic diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease, obesity, dementia, depression, diabetes, macular degeneration, osteoporosis and arthritis are a major concern for most people.
Remaining mentally, physically and socially active, especially avoiding isolation as you outlive friends and relatives is another key issue.
There are many obstacles to healthy ageing. A simple example is cytomegalovirus, a very common virus, which seems to alter the balance of our immune system over time and the resulting chronic inflammation is one of the causes of body deterioration in the elderly.
Our research and experience shows that the following factors are key for anyone to be successful at healthy ageing:
-
adopt a primary focus or objective of achieving healthy ageing – it certainly does not come by accident – it requires focus
-
be prepared to eat healthy foods without over-consumption
-
remain mentally, physically and socially active
-

No CoQ10 – No Energy
CoQ10 is an antioxidant vitamin used in every cell of the body. Ninety-five percent of the human body’s energy is generated by a process which uses CoQ10. Therefore, those organs with the highest energy requirements—such as the heart and the liver—have the highest CoQ10 concentrations.
CoQ10 levels diminish with age, and as a result of dietary inadequacies and various disease states.
Also, some drugs, especially a group of cholesterol lowering prescription drugs known as “statins” (Pravachol, Zocor, Lipitor, etc) significantly reduce CoQ10 levels in the body.
CoQ10 can interact with some drugs and nutrients and so it is extremely important that you consult someone qualified in nutritional medicine before taking CoQ10.
