Fitness - Health and the Time factor
Summing up all the good advice one gets about health, fitness and exercise, there just seems not to be enough time around.
Have you got the time?
The trick is to incorporate all these goodies into your lifestyle. As long as good diets and exercise are an add on, it is not going to work. Health and fitness must be part of your desired lifestyle.
As often, attitude towards something positive comes first, once your change your attitude everything will follow.
Quality of life is what we all want and this includes health and fitness as well as happiness.
Good health supports us achieve a high quality of life. Fitness makes us want to live it every day to the fullest.
If you agree with these attitudes, good health practices and fitness regimes will come natural to you.
Because you are interested in becoming healthier and fitter or maintaining the health and fitness you have, you need to come up with a regime which fits into your lifestyle.
As you have noticed I am focusing on lifestyle more than on isolated fitness.
The reason for that is simple, because ....
.... the level of fitness you try to achieve should correspond to the level of fitness you need to lead a healthy lifestyle.
What does that mean?
You simply do the exercise to achieve the fitness you need to live your lifestyle.
Fitness can not be stored, there is no point of going to the gym 6 times a week for 3 hours if you don't need and don't use that level of fitness. Because as soon as you stop such intensive fitness training, your fitness will drop again.
Obviously, if you are a personal trainer or your lifestyle is fitness, that's fine .. because in your case fitness is your lifestyle.
For most people a moderate balanced level of fitness is all what is needed, and therefore the time to achieve that level is shorter.
With other words, have the fitness you need to go through a day without getting puffed out or tired and have some energy left at the end of the day.
How to achieve that?
Incorporate a lot of exercise during the day within your daily activities.
Change your attitude and awareness towards exercise, by example, if you walk from one office to the other or where ever you walk, have the awareness to change that walk into an exercise, as soon as you do that, you walk in a different way, just that bit more faster and energetic.
Do that with anything which lends itself to changed into an exercise.
Sit down now and make a list, look at your daily activities, and fit in some of those activities listed:
walking - squats - half push ups - leaning against a table - stretches - weight lifting - a heavy bag is a weight - flanges - step exercise (step up step down one step) . Whenever you wait for something, do some squats, etc.
Keep all this in mind, and if you like to become a bit more energetic go to the gym maybe twice a week, with a combination of cardiovascular exercise ( bike etc) and a good weightlifting regime to build some muscles. The time in between the gym visits is the time for your body to recuperate and build those muscles ..
... and most of all appreciate life, don't artificially shorten it ....
