As the Sun makes its annual trek through the grounded, security conscious sign of Taurus we may find our needs bending slightly toward our resource sector both internally and externally and gathering what we can to make ourselves feel a little safer over the next few weeks. Often people during Taurus time can get a little nervous about the lack of what seems to be coming in while others become more in tune to what they truly value. This all comes to a head at the Scorpio full moon on May 6th.
The new moon in Taurus on April 21st set the scene rather comfortably and we may have found that the Lunar month began in a rather simple, even slightly indulgent way. Now the cosmos hits the fan on May 6th, as the moon lights up in the land of the complex and the intense. Monthly full moons are generally not earth shattering but what they can do is heighten the emotional extremities of the moment, and what sign can do that better than Scorpio. This is a day with testing your power, and you could feel like you are being taken to the basement of your fears, even if they are just in your head. Be aware of being pushed to the limit, and monitor all levels of control on that day both by you or by what could be played against you. Some good advice is to embrace your power issues and become aware of where you may be leaking it. Diffuse your fear by allowing these emotions to wash over you and come out the other side with a deeper sense of personal strength.
Mercury skips into Taurus on May 10th making an earthy grand trine with Pluto and Mars on the 13th-15th. Here we have a certain amount of co operation between our action, our power and how we think and communicate. Check out what houses in your natal chart contain 8 degrees of the earth signs and utilise this opportunity within those domains, especially if you have planets close to these degrees. This could be highly beneficial for any work or business deals as long as you remain brave and resilient. There are bound to be challenges, yet the trick is in remaining fearless by mustering some inner power behind every word and action.
The Sun comes into conjunct with Jupiter at 23 degrees Taurus at this time as well, spitting distance from Mercury adding extra flavour by remaining positive with your convictions.
Venus begins her retrograde motion through Gemini from May16 - June 28. As she pulls back through the Zodiac we may feel our needs for security and comfort becoming more reflective and internalised. Some may feel slightly more sentimental with a need to contact friends or loved ones from the past. Others may go down the more material road going over finances, possessions and their paperwork. Retreating though Gemini, Venus has the urge to communicate or at least back track on her thinking. Other scenarios could include making amends, slowing down and relaxing a little more or indulging in any old artistic pursuits, especially those that help you calm down and reconnect you with some long forgotten talents.
As the Sun enters Gemini on May 21st it gets hit by an eclipse at 0 degrees. Those born on the first 2 days of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces or have a planet in the first 2 degrees of these signs could find some relatively big changes in store for the year ahead particularly concerning the house that contains the eclipse degree. This eclipse becomes more defined with eclipse ruler Mercury conjunct Jupiter at 25 Taurus the day after the eclipse, then entering Gemini on May 25th and conjunct the Sun on May 27th. This Mercury action adds an extra dynamic to the story for those with planets affected by the eclipse. It highlights new learning experiences that could include travel, courses, writing or any new study or circumstances that broadening your current spectrum of knowledge.
