What is Spirituality?

 Many students who are naturally spiritual have always felt an inner need to know more and understand what life is all about. Quite often even from being very young you may have experienced things that others have not and quietly learned to put them to one side for fear of ridicule or simply just not being believed.

Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or immaterial reality, an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of their being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live. Spiritual practices including meditation, prayer and contemplation are intended to develop an individual's inner life; such practices often lead to a greater feeling of being connected with a larger reality, yielding a more comprehensive self and linking with  other individuals or the community you live in as well as with nature the cosmos and the devine realm.

Traditionally, religions have regarded spirituality as an integral aspect of religion in all its forms. Many do still equate spirituality with religion, but declining membership of organized religions and the growth of secularism especially in the western world has given rise to a broader view of spirituality.

Spirituality has played a central role in many self help self movements such as Alcoholic Anonymous. For instance if an alcoholic failed to perfect and enlarge his spiritual life through work and self-sacrifice for others, he could not survive the certain trials and low spots ahead.

Spirituality often relates to the non-physical. In a sense it means connecting to a higher power and also personally connecting to the universe. Being spiritual does not mean you have to follow a certain religion or practice. Religious learning usually has a set structure to follow, spirituality does not and therefore follows only the rules of the higher self. Although many religions have a golden thread of truth which sometimes gets misunderstood or even used to control, spiritual people realise deep down that it is up to them to find their own truth.

Spiritual Development

 When undertaking spiritual development the individual is usually thought to link to a higher power; which is generally accessed through the deepest core of the self; however, there can also be a connection with a higher power outside the self.

We are now seeing an explosion of interest in psychology, health, natural healing and the arts. It would appear there is a universal shift going on and more and more people are being called by some unseen force or need to connect on a more spiritual level. The material world seems to be losing some of its appeal as more and more of us search for more meaning in life than the latest gadget or fastest car. We have seen time and time again that people are now more unsatisfied than ever with mere possessions. We are in a period when the world often seems an unsafe or unsatisfactory place to bring our children into, yet there is still more and more people turning their backs on material aspects and looking for more meaning and love in their life. This is truly a time of Spiritual Awakening.

Mediumship & Spirits

 Spiritualists believe in communicating with the spirits of discarnate humans. They believe that spirit mediums are humans gifted to do this, often through séances. They believe that spirits are capable of growth and perfection, progressing through higher spheres or planes. The afterlife is not a static place, but one in which spirits evolve. The two beliefs—that contact with spirits is possible, and that spirits may lie on a higher plane—lead to a third belief, that spirits can provide knowledge about moral and ethical issues, as well as about God and the afterlife.

The Meeting of Science and Spiritualism

 Is there really a scientific explanation for a psychic who can contact the other side and is there really such a thing as the 3^rd Eye where it is known you can see and even communicate with spirit without the need of human sight or speech? The reason why science has such  an unacceptance of this is because whilst the psychic will talk about subtle energies and a feeling of different vibrations when connecting to the spirit world or working on a higher plane, the psychic has never been able to explain scientifically what sort of energy they refer to. To the scientific mind, energy comes clearly defined as either heat, light, sound, electrical, nuclear or chemical, yet none of these seem to apply to the experience of the psychic although many psychics do feel heat and see light and even hear sounds.

Despite many amazing experiments under laboratory conditions, still scientists find it hard to accept any psychic phenomena as being genuine valid. However as with everything else times are changing and as our scientific knowledge grows we find the unlikeliest things starting to occur in both the universe and nature. For instance it is now accepted that particles like the neutrino, which stream through space, passing right through everything in their way, including our bodies, to particles that seem to be able to be in two places at one time. Energy means a capacity for movement or change, which means that anything that makes us feel different or moves whether we understand it or no is a form of energy. A neutrino (Italian pronunciation): meaning "small neutral one is an elementary particle that usually travels close to the speed of light, is electrically neutral, and is able to pass through ordinary matter almost undisturbed. This makes neutrinos extremely difficult to detect. Neutrinos have a very small, but nonzero mass.

Neutrinos are created as a result of certain types of radioactive decay or nuclear reactions such as those that take place in the Sun, in nuclear reactors, or when cosmic rays hit atoms. There are three types, or "flavours", of neutrinos: electron neutrinos, muon neutrinos and tau neutrinos; each type also has a corresponding antiparticle, called antineutrinos. Electron neutrinos (or antineutrinos) are generated whenever protons change into neutrons (or vice versa), the two forms of beta decay. Interactions involving neutrinos are mediated by the weak interaction.

Most neutrinos passing through the Earth emanate from the Sun, and more than 50 trillion solar neutrinos pass through an average human body every second.

It is thought that, just like the cosmic microwave background radiation left over from the Big Bang, there is a background of low energy neutrinos in our Universe. In the 1980s it was proposed that these may be the explanation for the dark matter thought to exist in the universe. Neutrinos have one important advantage over most other dark matter candidates: we know they exist.

Now if science now accepts that neutrinos exist then there will surely be a time when they will be able to comprehend and understand psychic energy.

Communicating with animals

 Many plants and animals often appear to have 6^th sense. Turtles will find their way through millions of square miles of Open Ocean to return to the very place they were born. Birds can see the magnetic field of the earth and use this for direction. Animals can predict earthquakes and of course our pet dog has a phenomenal sense of smell. But because we regard ourselves as different from animals we often do not realise that we too have greater abilities that are just waiting to be re discovered. There are many clairvoyants or psychics who can communicate with animals. They do this by a form of telepathy. When we are using our spiritual abilities for communicating and not our earthly mind then there are no barriers for communication. Try talking to your pet. Stroking your pet is actually a form of total relaxation for both of you. It has been proven that when stroking your animal it can reduce blood pressure and slow the heartbeat down and is a perfect form of meditation. Now try communicating. You may find yourself having thoughts or words that will come into your head. Imagine your cat or dog actually talking to you. Feel what they want to say, are you receiving happy thoughts or feelings of anxiety? Tell them how much you love them. They will pick up your loving vibrations. If you get a message for instance to do with toothache, don’t dismiss this as your imagination, your pet may have been waiting for this opportunity to communicate with you.

Using Crystals & stones for communication

Crystals are very versatile and have been used for healing and meditation throughout the ages. Do not underestimate the power of crystals. They can be a great tool for any psychic. Wearing certain crystals can help you attune more easily and open up your channels. In some ancient cultures they believed that people who wore or carried certain crystals would be imbued with power from the spiritual realms. Anyone who has undergone or carried out a crystal treatment will understand their power. Wearing a green crystal will help you keep you balanced. Wearing a black crystal will help to ground you. You may like to hold a crystal whilst meditating as this can be then used as a tool to help clear your mind of thoughts. A clear quartz is a good choice as this particular crystal has always been prized by both healers and shamans as a means of accessing the spirit world.

If you ever feel drawn to a particular crystal but do not know why or what the crystal represents, then please purchase it if possible. Look up the meaning when you get home and I am sure you will find the crystal you felt drawn to was for a specific purpose. For instance you may find you are drawn to a blue coloured crystal or stone. This could mean that you are in need of opening up your communication channels and maybe need to speak more openly about something you have been holding back from saying. Having an amethyst crystal near you bed will help you to recall your dreams more easily as this crystal is know to open up the 3^rd eye, so you dreams maybe more vivid.
