Dirty Electricity and Mental Illness

In 1974 United States Army researchers reported that low-level microwave radiation – such as that used by mobile phones – might alter the function of the blood/brain barrier (BBB).

Swedish scientists repeated this warning in 1992, and also suggested a potential link with Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases.

Swedish neurosurgeon Dr Leif Salford, who has been researching for twenty years, has publicly warned that a whole generation of teenagers using mobile phones may suffer from mental deficiencies or Alzheimer’s disease by the time they reach middle age.

Dr Olle Johansson, a neuroscientist at the famous Karolinksa Institute in Stockholm, reports that when second-generation, 1800-MHz mobile phones were introduced into Sweden in 1997 a significant and permanent worsening of the public health began precisely at the time.  After a decade-long decline, the number of Swedish workers on sick leave began to rise in late 1997 and more than doubled during the next five years.

During the same period of time, sales of antidepressant drugs also doubled.  The number of traffic accidents, after declining for years, began to climb again in 1997.  The number of deaths from Alzheimer’s disease, after declining for several years, rose sharply in 1999 and had nearly doubled by 2001 (Firstenberg, A. 2006, p5, ‘The largest biological experiment ever,’ Sun Monthly, 1 January 2006).
