ARE YOU TOXIC or instead MALNOURISHED?

BY GREG NEVILLE. ND

Do people need a detox or instead a nutritional fill up?

Who knows, let’s just “CLEAN THEM OUT, and then FILL THEM UP” many therapists incorrectly conclude.

With the understanding that the human body incorporates the innate processes and the resulting power to function correctly (healthy) when provided with nutritional requirements, and free of encumbering or perverting influences, Natural therapists find it very easy to sell the ‘Clean them out, and fill them up’ approach to treating illness.   People have been flocking to health resorts and taking part in all various types of physical and mental detoxification, or macro nutritional programs, all in the hope of correcting whatever is physically or psychologically dysfunctional.

If physically over-loaded with toxins, the natural health fraternity explains our ‘inner physical pollution to be the result of contact with or the ingestion of dangerous levels of toxic chemicals from our environment, or failure of the body to adequately eliminate even its own by-products’.   It also explains ‘any insufficient levels of nutrition to result from inadequate nutritional diets’.  So, it would seem only appropriate that people assist their health by including themselves in any of the many detoxification or nutritional programs on offer.  Or is it?

It’s also interesting when you note that the majority of the psychological and Spiritual philosophy that people access, also educate people to believe they are suffering from an encumbrance of psychological baggage that has been received from other people, and is in need of removal before they can reconnect to their true self, and find their answers.

It’s not long after becoming aware of either a physical or psychological issue that many people begin to consider booking into a detoxification or nutritional program of some sort.  Lets for once though, have a look at which we need, detoxification or renourishing?

The typical “Clean them out and Fill them up” approach to treating the masses of people in need of health assistance, actually takes very little into account when treating the individual.  How much advantage would come from placing a malnourished person on a detoxification program, or even a person whose body is already struggling to clear away the current levels of toxins?

Are you a person who needs a clean out, or instead a nutritional fill up?  Simply doing both isn’t as smart as it may appear, and few Natural therapists can rarely understand which is actually required.  Tiredness, aches and pains, skin rashes, and so on, can result from either being toxic or malnourished.

One method of finding the correct answer, is through first gaining more understanding of the mind/body connection, and considering what has been your psychological approach to life.  There is a particular psychological approach that results in a reduction of the body’s detoxifying capability, whilst there is also another that reduces the body’s ability to acquire the full extent of nutrition available from the food it ingests.

The body possesses many physiological systems, lets for the moment cover the digestive and urinary system, each of which also have an intimate association with the liver.

The Digestive system.

Our body physically grows from the nutrition it receives from the food it consumes, just like we personally grow in our understanding of life (personal/spiritual development) from the data we receive from our life experiences.   Our digestive system opens up the food parcel it received from eating, then absorbs and sends the nutrition this food parcel contained to the liver for storage or distribution around the body.

In life we too, just like our digestive system investigates the value provided by the food it receives, can find ourself questioning the value we are receiving from the events we are experiencing.  In fact many people come to hold the conclusion, the concern, that they are not receiving adequate factors from their life events to satisfy their life’s development.  Any such concern affects the amount of nutrition their body physically absorbs from their food, resulting in insufficient nutritional supplies.  Such people do not need, and should not be put on a detox program.  They are malnourished, rather than toxic.

‘Digestive system people’ look at life via the subject of ‘What are we receiving from our life experiences?

(Note: Please be aware that each of the digestive organs has its own specific topic, but for the sake of this article I am simply doing an overview of the digestive system as a whole).

The Urinary system.

The liver not only serves as a storehouse of nutrition, it also performs the tasks of identifying any detrimental (poor quality) factors (like chemicals etc) obtained from the food we consume, and in the blood that has circulated around the body.  The liver detoxifies (renders harmless) any such identified substances, and sends them to the kidney for removal.

In life we too, just like our kidneys eliminate factors considered now to be of poor quality and detrimental to the body, can see a need to eliminate/detox from our life or mind, any factors we now consider to be of poor or detrimental quality.   We can believe our life, mind and body requires a ‘clean out’.

Digestive people look at life via the topic- “What am I receiving that can assist development?”   And as they believe they are not receiving required factors from the events they experience, their body psychosomatically becomes physically depleted in nutrition.

Kidney people look at life via the topic- “What do I need to clean out so as to reduce the encumbrance that is ruining my life?”  And as they begin to believe the accumulation of such encumbrances is increasing, their body’s level of toxins begins to increase.

A Digestive person, whilst repairing a gate, will be questioning whether this is an experience offering them what they believe they need in order to develop their life.  Whilst alternatively, a Kidney person repairing the same gate will be viewing that task as one of removing a poor quality factor.

What do we really need?

Or should we correctly ask, what do we really need to learn?   Naturopathic Psychotherapy studies Nature.  It studies life and physiology to learn Nature’s lessons on life.  Through identifying which particular psychological conclusions dysfunctions physiology (stress affecting health), compared to which psychological conclusion instead supports normal physiology to exist, Nature is providing us with a means by which to learn and understand what is a correct interpretation of life.

The body’s digestives system and liver generally obtain sufficient nutrition from the basic standard diet that most people consume, unless they have the psychological issues that decreases the digestives system’s functional capabilities to process and absorb nutrition.

The body’s liver and urinary system generally provide sufficient detoxifying capability to maintain health, unless people possess the psychological issues that decrease these organ’s functional capability/efficiency.

If you’re a person that has been concerned that life’s events may have been failing to fulfil some person’s life’s developmental requirements, then you need to not only consider a nutritional supplement program, but definitely consider attending a program that provides the education on life that enables you to understand why you have not been missing out at all, and also understand what you have been receiving.  Such a program must teach you how to correctly measure personal development, and how such development is being received.

One the other hand, if you’ve been looking at life via the ‘how can someone remove or prevent their life from accumulating rubbish/toxic encumbrances?’, then you need to consider a very mild detox program that does not overwork your liver and kidneys, whilst at the same time you also need to attend a program that provides an education on life that explains how so-called ‘detrimental factors’ also play their role in the growth of our understanding of life, and are automatically removed when appropriate.

What is truly in need of removal is any old incorrect beliefs responsible for triggering our psychological stress and health conditions, and such removal is only possible through receiving the specific information/lessons that up-grades such old beliefs to a correct account of what is taking place in life.

As we all go about working on achieving our goals (trying to control life), we are subjected to events that not only provide us with the data that assists with the upgrading of our understanding of the various aspect of life, but such new understandings also play their role in the removal of old, poor quality understandings.  ‘Personal Development’, the development of our understanding of Life/Reality, is an automatic process resulting from being subjected to information we where not aware we required.

True Natural therapy utilizes disease to direct us to the precise beliefs in need of attention, and study’s life/health (normal physiology) to enlighten us on the particular understandings/lessons we need to gain.  Such laws/lessons on life explain the process of development, which includes an education on how we receive our growth in understanding life, and consequently also includes an explanation of how old incorrect understandings are neutralized and removed when they are meant to be.  Such an understanding of nature’s laws also enables you to understand why you never come across the information you require before it is possible to do so.

Is it your time to receive sufficient information to finally understand disease, its cause and lessons?  Is it your time to finally understand life?  Naturopathic Psychotherapy is an education that explains why more than just nutrition or a detox is required to gain understanding of what your health is demanding you learn about life.
