Is Feng Shui All in the Mind?

Next Article >

How Feng Shui is NOT in the Mind

Have you experienced this situation? You walk into someone’s home and it feels great? It may have beautiful furnishings and décor, but what you know that what you feel is more than that.

And have you experienced this? You walk into another home: It may be beautifully arranged - but something is wrong? You might not be able to put your finger on it - it may be a bit dull. People get more easily agitated there and you don’t really want to stay.

Likewise, there are bedrooms where you can sleep well and others where you don't sleep well. Some people only sleep well when they are away from their home.

You would find most people would agree as to which home or bedroom was good, and which one wasn't.

What creates a good home or bedroom is not just its looks or lack of it. There is something else! The differences described above are real, and people generally experience the same sort of thing in each home.

Traditional Feng Shui can explain these differences. We use advanced formulas to find out a building’s energy blueprint. This gives each of its areas its unique feel.

The more closely a building's layout, furniture placement and colour schemes correspond to its underlying energies, the more harmonious and balanced it is.

With Feng Shui your can measure those energies and create beautiful environments – buildings that not just look good but also feel right.

How Feng Shui is in the Mind

Here is example how your relationship to an object can create good Feng Shui: Let’s say you had a beautiful picture of you wedding hanging in the bedroom. This would uplift you when you saw it. It would also reinforce and remind you of your goal of a happy marriage.

And here is how your dislike of an object can create bad Feng Shui: If you kept a vase in the hallway, which was given to you as a gift - and if you kept this out of obligation, but did not really like it - you would remind yourself of your own weakness in relation to that person every time you walked past it. Your sense of wellbeing would just that little bit reduced by this.

These are symbols work in Feng Shui. Their effect is in the mind of the beholder. If you have assigned some meaning to an object, the object will reflect that meaning back to you - the good or the bad.

However, there is no inherent power in the object. The power is in your mind. A frog does not make you wealthy and two dolphins don't create a happy marriage, unless you create these outcomes. Using symbols can be a beautiful reminder of what you want to create.

How to Use Symbols

Any object can be a symbol if it means something to you: a piece of furniture, a picture, a vase...

Make sure that you have objects in your home that uplift you: things that remind you of happy moments, objects that represent your goals, or things you just really like.

If you keep things out of obligation, or have things around you that you don't like, they will remind you of your shortcomings, upsets, or inability to get what you want - they will have a negative effect on you.

Thanks Brigitte, for putting into words the satisfying concept of Feng Shui. You've explained why I so enjoy my collection of bird ornaments, each with a unique story to them (even if I can't remember what it is anymore!). I will definitely download your ebooks. Thanks for making them available. Do you ever give presentations in Canberra? Cheers, Michele
