Zedkidz luv their natural environment every day

With Earth Day fast approaching on Sunday the 21st, do you go green for special events? Does each special green day make you that much greener each time? If that was the case we should all be fully green by now.

The list of special days to educate the masses on environmental issues alone is enormous, but do we listen?

Special environmental days:

  • World Environment Day
  • Earth Day
  • World Wetlands Day
  • Arbor Day
  • World Oceans Day
  • World Population Day
  • Clean Up the World

And the list goes on.

I myself am aware and active for most of the big environmental campaigns and probably many you’ve never heard of but that’s me.

How about you?

Do you enjoy participating for special environmental campaigns?

Do you only do it because the kids hassle you?

Do you only do it because the neighbours are?

Or like me do you do it because you really feel strongly about each issue and know by your activity it will spur change for your children, local community and therefore the planet?

In recent times you might have been turned onto environmental awareness campaigns by your sporting club which to me is an encouraging sign.  When sporting organisations in the United States like the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball are taking part in Earth Day you know the message is getting out to a diverse crowd. And if you’ve read my other blogs you’d know I’m a big fan of what the Green Sports Alliance have accomplished in a few short years is phenomenal.

Anyway this article is all about “YOU” I’m more interested in the small changes that you accomplish every day for what ever reason:

  • environmental
  • social
  • economical

Each change you make will be felt by Mother Earth and the people around you and will have long lasting effects, so why not make them positive ones. Unless of course you’re a pessimist who only considers themselves and has already doomed the globe to finish in a messy end which for me the negative vibes are totally unacceptable.

So where do you go from here? Do you poo poo the special day or get on board to share the positive vibes and connect with like minded inspirational people? I know what I’d rather :) I look forward to hearing some of your stories about how you’ve changed the way you think towards a more environmentally sustainable world that you live in.

I’ll start with my story:

I read a novel in 1989 by Ben Elton the English comedian titled “Stark” which I could see in real life some of the environmental degradation he’d written about coming true. Then shortly after I attended a “NO NUKES” rally in Hyde Park, Sydney which shocked me into realising I needed to personally do something, I just couldn’t sit around and leave it up to others.

So where am I now, I’ve spent 20 years as an active environmentalist and am the owner of a sustainable event management business   changing the way events are run to incorporate environmental and social aspects. And my sign off is…working with the planet

All serious comments will be approved…I look forward to hearing your story!
