Danger Signs of Stress Overload

Not enough time:   There’s so much to do in the day your head is buzzing, you get frustrated and irritated at the slightest delay and everyone around you. You wake early in the morning thinking of everything yet to do.

Not enough money:  Your difficulty in decision making, loss of clarity and direction, your irritable attitude and tiredness are starting to be reflected in your business and financial situation.  The more you think about money the more stressed you feel.

Poor relationships:  At home and at work you find yourself easily irritated and frustrated by others, oscillating between anger and remorse, feeling more and more isolated and alone.

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

Until you de-stress yourself, your health, relationships and finances can not improve.  Think about how many months (years?) you have been feeling like this, and think about how you would like it to be.   Your life is now, not tomorrow, so make the most of it.

There are three levels of de-stressing you can do.

Level 1

This level includes activities you can do yourself or easily with others.  It’s most beneficial to have a combination of re-charge time alone, and time to connect and have fun with others. Try these, and add your own suggestions:  Physical activity, especially outdoors, such as walking, cycling, swimming, dancing, roller blading, running, kayaking.  Massage, professional or loving. Singing, in the shower, community choir or with friends. Connecting with family and friends in the ritual of food and drink: dinners, picnics, leisurely breakfasts or brunches. Bubble baths. Sleeping or lying in with a good book. Making love, especially with orgasms, alone or not. Meditation.  Breathing exercises. Positive affirmations. Creativity: painting, drawing, craft, sewing, gardening, cooking. Laughing.  Watching comedies and comedians, cartoons and kids movies. Playing your favourite childhood games with your children, nephews, grandchildren etc. Dreaming of a wonderful future and taking steps now to make it happen.  A change of scenery for a day, a weekend, a month.  Shopping, only if you enjoy the whole experience and stay within your budget.  Delegate the chores and tasks you hate at home and at work.  Get organised.  Use your diary. Clean desk policy at the end of the day. Systemise everything, or hire someone to do it for you.

Accept that no one is perfect, not even you, and that’s OK.  Decide to accept that other people’s stuff is just that, theirs, not yours.  Laugh – out aloud, frequently.

Level 2

This level involves clearing the toxic backlogs of negative emotions that have built up in your body, making it harder for you to maintain control of your emotions.  Perhaps you are reacting instead of taking action, being angry instead of assertive, crying too easily, anxious or indecisive trying to please everyone else.  Your body is struggling to heal itself as Nature intends.  Neuro Linguistic Programming is the perfect set of techniques to de-stress at this level, enabling you to easily and effortlessly clear the build-up so you can respond with the amount of emotion appropriate to the occasion.

Level 3

This is the deepest level and involves resolving and clearing the underlying self-esteem and self-trust issues which are the true causes of your perceived lack of time, money and connection.  For example, the lower your self esteem and trust, the harder it is for you to set and maintain boundaries with others. You end up spending enormous amounts of energy and time trying to satisfy everyone else’s needs.  Another important factor in this level of de-stressing is learning to live in the Present, where you are safe and totally in control, rather than in the depressing Past with regrets and ‘should haves’ or in the anxious Future with the ‘what ifs’.   You can learn how to distinguish between which doubts are from your intuition and which are simply someone else’s voice from the Past.  You can choose to use NLP, Hypnosis or other modalities to safely de-stress yourself at this deep unconscious level.

To de-stress at deeper levels 2 and 3 for lasting calm, self control and healing, you can attend the De-Stress For Success workshops, the next being in Brisbane on 14 August, or book in for individual in person or telephone sessions. Enquiries for in-house training and private group workshops welcome.  To book or for more information contact Sue Lester, Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnosis on 07 31032679 or email
