Acupuncture:

Is your Acupuncturist qualified?

Acupuncturists need to have undertaken a 4 – 5 year full time course at an accredited institution (whether national or international).

Accreditation with a specific association is the key to any practitioners validity. Currently in Australia we have only one leading organisation for the membership of fully qualified acupuncture and Chinese medicine practitioners, and it is safe to say that if your practitioner is not eligible for membership with the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) then they are not eligible to practice acupuncture or Chinese medicine in Australia.

It is important that prospective or current patients know this and also realise that membership with general complementary medicine societies may not be enough.
