What would you attempt if you had all the energy you could wish for?
Energy is the vital force necessary for you to carry out activities you desire, not just for basic survival (body function) but also for your own personal satisfaction. But consider this, if your body is not getting enough energy to function optimally how can you ever find the energy to participate in more fun and enjoyable activities? For the body survival comes first. The body utilizes energy for absorption and assimilation of nutrients, maintenance of cells and elimination of waste and toxins. With greater consumption of toxins, our bodies are under more stress. Our energy also becomes easily sapped by many other sources such as: radiation, chemicals, pesticides and even negative emotions.
If you want to enhance your energy levels you need to look at several perspectives. Below we touch on a few of the major areas for you to consider and simple resolutions for each one.
It takes energy to create energy. If you sit at home watching tv you are not likely to feel energized. By moving your body, you send signals to the brain that alter various chemical reactions in your body. So get active, particularly on those very days when you are feeling lazy. Remember that you will start to feel more energetic once you begin exercising. Exercise is also one way to elevate your metabolic rate, so that you are firing on more cylinders, with added zing in your spring!
Oxygen is a crucial component in many chemical reactions that produce energy. The quality of the air around you will be compromised if you are consistently bombarded with air-conditioner recycled air (full of infectious micro-organisms) or surrounded by concrete buildings (which emit positive ions). Positive ions sap your energy and lead you to feelings of lethargy and depression. To combat this you need to increase your exposure to negative ions which invigorate and energize your whole body. This can be done with Negative ionizers, diaphragmatic deep breathing to clear away stagnant air from your lungs, aromatherapy oils as well as surrounding your living areas with plenty of green leafy plants. Sea-side air and rainforests are other ways of topping up on a generous dose of healthful negative ions.
REST and RELAXATION
Life is about balance. There are times for activity and times to allow the body to rejuvenate. For added bounce, be sure to get adequate sleep. Your body's cells need this time for their repair, growth and rejuvenation. Become aware of your body's varying needs and learn to stop and rest when required. If you ignore these messages your body is communicating to you, you may end up with an illness, so as to force you into rest mode. Recovery then, may take much longer than normal.
Most of us have experienced poor quality of sleep due to an over-active (over-excited) mind. Be sure to apply the following effective herbal remedies for a good night's sleep: Valerian, Passionflower, Kava and Skullcap. Calcium and magnesium are great minerals to facilitate relaxation as well.
Believe it or not, your thoughts are also a powerful form of energy. If you are constantly pre-occupied with negative thoughts you are likely to feel drained of energy as a result. So think about those recurring feelings you experience that you could do without. The greatest drainers are feelings of guilt, anger, fear and being criticized unnecessarily. If you are in a stressful relationship you need to either deal wit the stress or dissolve the relationship.
Avoid stressful situations and negative emotions by asserting positive affirmations daily. An example may be "I am peaceful and energetic and full of glorious joy". Your affirmation must be in the present tense, and use only positive words. Also using "I am." at the beginning of your affirmation is a superb way of awakening your responsibility to yourself.
Visualizations are also a powerful tool, since the unconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and something imagined (visualized). Soon after, your body starts to obey the images painted and act in perfect accordance with them. Make the image bright, colourful, big and with lots of movement to intensify the result.
Expressing your emotions also discharges stagnant energy , so perhaps talk to a trusted friend or alternatively write your thoughts and feelings in a private journal.
When it comes to the raw fuel your body uses for the production of its energy, you can't beat the power of food. By power foods I am referring to raw, biogenic (alive) and organic foods. When you consume foods that are as close to their natural state as possible you are in essence tapping into the vital energy that sustains the entire universe. Apart from the fats, carbohydrates and proteins that supply energy to the body, raw foods also possess this vital force that is quite miraculous in nature.
Science cannot justly explain this effect but can only measure it in terms of the bio-energy available to us. All sprouts, fruit, vegetables that are raw have this quality. The more that one processes (cooks, tins, heats) these foods the more they become lifeless. Remember the saying "you are what you eat"? Eating deads foods will not exactly make you feel alive! Only raw foods make you feel alive and vibrant. The foods that sap our energy include: sugar, meat, pesticides and stimulants (coffee, tea, coke and alcohol). Processed foods are not particularly invigorating either (biscuits, pastries, tinned vegetables, reconstituted juices)
Juices are a wonderful way of consuming considerable quantities of enzymes, cleansing chlorophyll and attaining natural energy.
Now you may have the best diet in the world, but it is quite useless if your digestive tract isn't absorbing the nutrients and converting them to usable energy. Also if you are not eliminating waste adequately your body will use more energy attempting to detoxify your system.
Likewise any diseases occurring within the body need to be addressed and correctly. Chronic disorders, in particular will benefit from some naturopathic treatment. Digestive disorders are of most importance, as this is your primary channel for biochemical energy.
Now that you understand the basis of nutrition for maximum energy, you can also include some supplements to enhance the biochemical processes involved in energy production.
The vitamins that are of most importance are the B-complex vitamins involved in metabolism and energy production. Magnesium is one mineral that is directly involved with ATP production, which is the energy currency. Herbs like Korean and Siberian ginseng, guarana, ginger, cayenne and Ginkgo biloba are also good boosters in specific ways. It is best to consult a health care practitioner who can prescribe the exact supplements suitable for you.
Now off you go and get started on planning what you'd love to do with the abundant energy that will soon be available to you.
